Macadamia, brazil nut and basil pesto

When it comes to common dishes that include either meat, dairy or egg, I have come to terms with the fact that I might sometimes have to make them myself! Pesto is one of those delicious foods that is often used as a dip or condiment, however it also includes parmesan cheese, which often has a derivative of rennet in it. This recipe leaves out the cheese, yet manages to capture all of the delicious pesto tastes, as well as adding a few twists on the classic! This is a recipe I use with pasta, on wholemeal bread with avocado, on burgers and with roast vegetables, as it is a very versatile, easy and healthy dish! Hope you enjoy it!

1 Cup of fresh basil leaves

1/2 Cup macadamias and brazil nuts

1 Tablespoon of olive oil

1 Teaspoon of chilli paste

The juice from half a lemon

Salt and pepper to taste

Turmeric and paprika for garnishing

Put all ingredients in food processor and blend until the ingredients are turned into a thick paste and enjoy with your favourite meal!

This pesto looks delish! I love how you used Brazil Nuts and macadamias instead of the standard pine nuts. Brilliant!
